Due to my friend being there, it was perhaps easiest trip till now. I didn’t have to worry about making plans.
There are lots of places in Udaipur to visit like Lakes, Places, Forts and Shopping Malls. I went there in Nov 2016 alone driving from Delhi to Udaipur. It is around 650 Kms from Delhi which means a drive of 9 – 11 Hrs but the roads being nice from Jaipur so the trip becomes less tiring but some people might find toll charges being little on a higher side as I paid nearly Rs.700 for one side.
As I love to drive and was about to spend my 3 days, hence I chose to drove whole night and reached Udaipur at 10.00AM, then went to a restaurant for a tea. After some time went to my friends place to breakfast as the check-in time of hotel was 12.00PM. Around 1.00PM went to hotel (Mandiram Palace) which is next to Lake Pichola. If you want to stay in a budget hotel near Lake Pichola, you can opt for it. In the evening we went for a movie and saw the malls of Udaipur, and then we went to a nice restaurant called 1559AD. We sat outside and due to winter season the weather was nice. They were playing light local instrumental music which went perfectly with the evening.
Next day, we went to Kumbhalgarh Fort which is about 70 Kms from Udaipur city. The Fort is also known for its famous palace that resides on the top of structure. This beautiful palace is known as ‘Badal Mahal’ or ‘the Palace of Cloud’. From the parking outside to the fort to the heart of the fort it is a very long and little steep walk. The wall of Kumbhalgarh Fort is 38Km long. I’ll not be going to history of the fort but the site from the top of the fort is breath-taking.
After that we went to HaldiGhati and visited the museum. Once we were inside, we were in a queue and after going in we saw the historical items and a short video on haldighati history. Then passed through the entire area of museum and came out. Then we travelled back to Udaipur city and had our lunch. Then in the evening we went for a drive to Fateh Sagar Lake and passed it. It is a nice place but too much crowded.
Next day, we went for breakfast at Jheel’s Ginger Coffee Bar & Bakery at the rooftop restaurant. The place and view of Lake Pichola is nice. Then, we went to Monsoon Palace which is also known as “Sajjan Garh Palace” which is 30 – 40 Kms from city. The palace provides panoramic view of city’s lakes and palace surroundings. It is called monsoon palace because it was built to watch monsoon clouds. We stayed there for a while and went back to city.
After coming back we went to see the Heritage Car Museum and then lunch there.
In evening, we went to City Palace to see the light and sound show which was amazing. After the show, we went for a walk to Lake Pichola and then dinner to Raas-Leela restaurant. The place is next to Lake Pichola but little difficult to find out.
Then the next day final day of trip as I have to drive back 9 Hrs back to Delhi.
